Hello Divorce Launches, Bringing Divorce Online and On-Demand

You asked, We listened: DIY Divorce — With a little (flat fee) legal help along the way.

Over the last several years, our family law practice has evolved, grown, transitioned and modernized. In so doing, we have been lucky enough to work with a unique clientele – The savvy, smart, curious client who is most interested in taking an active role in their matter to attain the best result possible — a strategic path primarily influenced by a cost/benefit analysis and practical considerations. We dug deep and created a system by which many of our would-be clients (and others throughout California) could do the majority (or in some cases, all) of their divorce from the privacy and comfort of their own home. Or, when full representation is necessary, supplement the divorce process with DIY help – thereby keeping lawyer fees in check.

New legal service provides free and subscription-based resources, DIY videos, and flat-fee legal services to those in the divorce process

OAKLAND, CA – 31 Mar, 2017 – East Bay startup Hello Divorce today announced the launch of their online platform that seeks to reimagine the way people approach the California divorce process. Hello Divorce provides ongoing subscription-based memberships to curated articles, resources, DIY videos and instructional templates, which users can access while preparing legal forms and moving their case through the Court system. In addition, Hello Divorce offers on-demand, flat-fee legal services, such as mediation, legal coaching, and document preparation—for when the bevy of informational resources isn’t enough.

Another major innovation that Hello Divorce offers is the pay-as-you-go model, with subscription services starting at $349. In opposition to the traditional, fee-heavy, retainer-based legal services available to those seeking a divorce, Hello Divorce proposes a high-quality model that empowers users with tools to move their own cases forward whenever possible, with additional flat-fee legal services available when more assistance is needed.

“We believe there is a different, more streamlined, less institutional way to do divorce,” said Erin Levine, Esq. founder of Hello Divorce and practicing Family Law Specialist. “Hello Divorce puts more power into the hands of the individual and ultimately more money in their pocket. Navigating the California court system is not always user-friendly, but Hello Divorce is.”

“I have been a Family Law attorney for over eleven years, and I have seen first hand how emotionally wrought and financially difficult divorce is for so many people,” says Levine. “The goal of Hello Divorce is to enable people to get through their divorce their way—in their own home, on their own time. We believe that smart, quality legal expertise doesn’t have to be costly or confusing.”

Started by Levine and designed with Jennifer Heller of Artsy Geek, Hello Divorce combines the expertise of various divorce experts—lawyers, therapists, mediators, etc.—with a clean, information-rich digital platform. The Hello Divorce platform is compatible with both Android and IOS operating systems. The next step for this team? The Hello Divorce “app.”
