Did last year fly by or what?
2019 was awesome but we are super excited to get working in 2020 and….
get our kids back to school ;-).
Seriously though, this year was one of the first that we took some REAL time off over the holidays and we feel rested, inspired, recharged and ready to hit the ground running. 2019 was one of our favorite years in that it was action packed from day 1 and we really got to diversify our practice while staying committed to our promise of truly hearing our clients and offering the no nonsense advice that they deserve.
So what made 2019 so special?
Well first off, to know us is to know that we don’t litigate for the sake of litigation. We strategize each case holistically and we engage in a cost-benefit analysis to determine the best approach. “Costs” include not just financial considerations – but emotional and wellness factors as well. Towards the end of 2019, after much
consideration, a long time client of ours decided to head to trial on several issues – including modification of child
support, termination of spousal support, reimbursement for overpayments in support (resulting from his ex opening a claim with Department of Child Support Services requesting back payments/ arrears for support she had already been paid) etc. With Erin Levine leading the charge, Ashley Schuh managing litigation, and Stan Sarkisov doing the bulk of the trial preparation and direct and cross examinations, the Levine Team won big (!) – recovering every penny of overpayment (plus interest), terminating support (proving that Petitioner had large sums of money and property that she had failed to disclose) and obtaining sanctions in the amount of $50,000!
We also won the prestigious Reisman Award for Legal Innovation.
As many of you know, in our quest to keep up with the times and meet consumer expectations, we launched Hello Divorce, an online divorce service, that provides a DIY Divorce web application (Divorce Navigator) and Legal Document Assistance for low conflict, uncontested divorces.
